White House officials are reviewing the aid it gives to Egypt each day as the violence has increased in the North African nation.

White House spokesman Josh Earnest said, “Our aid and assistance relationship with Egypt is under a review, but it has not been cut off.”

The U.S. government has still not delivered about $585 million to Egypt in aid, which is almost half of the total aid for the fiscal year that ends on September 30, according to the U.S. State Department.  The U.S. gives about $1.3 billion in aid to Egypt each year.
