One of the things I remember my good friend Jim Keating saying at the first Riddle of Steel I attended was that the oft-heard statement, “I can do more damage to you with a little knife than you can do to me with a big knife.” Thiswas one of the most misleading statements prevalent within the world of knife/counter-knife training.

It’s because the guy with the little knife is more skillful than the one with the larger knife. And if that’s the case, he could do even more damage if he had a bigger knife than the little one he’s bragging about.”
